This one-of-a-kind kiddush cup and tray was inspired by the velvet-y midnight-blue Shabbat night sky with its sprinkling of stars.
I hand-shaped it in organic lines of clay made from the earth of the Land of Israel, and glazed it in a unique technique I developed of layering as many as 7 different color glazes using a variety of techniques, including dipping, pouring, splashing dripping, and blending.
Glazes, like life, are unpredictable. One of the things I love about the process of glazing is that it is that a physical expression of the spiritual work taught in Jewish tradition and Kaballah of how to achieve anything. We must put our heart and soul into creating something, it is a partnership.
